In chapter 2, the author describes four different roles that take place in a sports community. These four roles are described as the four major players, and they include participants, media entities, organizations, and the fans.
Throughout chapter 2, the author describes and gives examples of each one of the different players. The focus is on how each player has affected sports – positively or negatively. The chapter also talks about how each player is designed and set-up for the people who are involved with sports, regardless of whether they are amateurs or professional athletes. The way money affects the players is also discussed. Finally, the chapter gives different descriptions of fans depending on how they view sports.
